Jay-Jay Okocha Returns To Football With English Club

Former captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha may be on his way back to English football.

The former Botlon Wanderers skipper, who is the second all-time great for the Whites, was reported to have played 45 minutes for Wolverton’s reserves but is yet to say if he would stay with the club permanently.
The former Paris Saint Germain midfield trojan, who played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga, might complete a shock return to the football pitch if the he agrees to any offer by the modest English clubside.

According to sbnation.com, Amanda Keech, chairperson of Wolverton Town, said:“He did play 45 minutes last week for us but we can’t say either way whether he will sign yet.

“He is friends with somebody who coaches at the club and could be helping out with pre-season training with the players. We will be able to say more once he has decided.”

Okocha captained the Whites to the 2004 League Cup final for the first time in the club’s history and was listed on FIFA’s top 100 football players ever.

The legendary Nigerian player recently blasted Nigerian football, explaining how the country’s round leather game became a mess.

HBO says Game of Thrones will be at least eight seasons

It’s official: Game of Thrones won’t only go for seven seasons.

Even though Thrones showrunners have repeatedly declared they only want to make seven seasons of the fantasy hit, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo for the first time firmly proclaimed the series will go at least eight seasons.

“Seven-seasons-and-out has never been the [internal] conversation,” Lombardo said to critics at the Television Critics Association’s press tour Thursday. “The question is: How much beyond seven are we going to do? Obviously we’re shooting six now, hopefully discussing seven. [Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are] feel like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now.”

Okay, so what about doing a prequel series, since author George R.R. Martin has created a world with such a lengthy and detailed history?

“I would be open to anything that Dan and David wanted to do—about Game of Thrones, or any subject matter,” Lombardo said. “It really would depend fully on what they wanted to do. I think you’re right, there’s enormous storytelling to be mined in a prequel, if George and Dan and David decide they want to tackle that. At this point, all the focus is on the next few years of the show. We haven’t had any conversations about that at this point.”

Lombardo also defended Thrones from criticisms about the show’s violent season 5 content (Sansa Stark’s storyline in particular). “In the pilot episode we see a 7-year-old boy pushed to seemingly his death from a tower,” Lombardo said. “This show has had violence from the first episode. I can’t speak to any single person’s particular taste, but I think the show is phenomenal. It went to 20 million viewers this year, it went up over 1 million viewers from the prior season. The show continues to grow dramatically. There are no two showrunners who are more careful about now overstepping what they think the line is—and everybody has their own line. [What they show] is critical to the storytelling.”

The president was also asked—of course—if Jon Snow is really dead (especially since actor Kit Harington has been spotted in Belfast, where Thrones is primarily shot). Lombardo maintained the same stance as the rest of the show’s team.

“Dead is dead is dead,” he said. “He be dead. Um, yes. Everything I’ve seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead.”

Before the panel, HBO also gave fans even more good news: Season 5 will be available on home video next month—much earlier than usual.

HIV flushed out by cancer drug

HIV can be flushed out of its hiding places in the body using a cancer drug, researchers show.
The cornerstone of treatment, anti-retroviral therapy, kills the virus in the bloodstream but leaves "HIV reservoirs" untouched.
The study, published in PLoS Pathogens, showed the drug was "highly potent" at reactivating hidden HIV.
Experts said the findings were interesting, but it was important to know if the drug was safe in patients.
The power of the HIV reservoir was shown with the case of the Mississippi baby.
She was given antiretroviral drugs at birth. Despite appearing to be free of HIV for nearly two years after stopping treatment, she was found to be harbouring the virus.
'Kick and kill'
A strategy known as "kick and kill" is thought to be key to curing HIV - the kick would wake up the dormant HIV allowing the drugs to kill it.
The team at the UC Davis School of Medicine investigated PEP005 - one of the ingredients in a treatment to prevent cancer in sun-damaged skin.
They tested the drug in cells grown in the laboratory and in parts of the immune system taken from 13 people with HIV.
The report said "PEP005 is highly potent in reactivating latent HIV" and that the chemical represents "a new group of lead compounds for combating HIV".
One of the researchers, Dr Satya Dandekar, said: "We are excited to have identified an outstanding candidate for HIV reactivation and eradication that is already approved and is being used in patients.
"This molecule has great potential to advance into translational and clinical studies."
However, the drug has still not been tested in people who are HIV-positive.
Prof Sharon Lewin, from the University of Melbourne, said the results were "interesting" and marked an "important advance in finding new compounds that can activate latent HIV".
"This study adds another family of drugs to test to potentially eliminate long-lived forms of HIV although much more work needs to be done to see if this works in patients.
"Although PEP005 is part of an FDA approved drug, it will first take some time to work out if it is safe to use in the setting of HIV."

foods that make you look younger

You can head off a lot of your most common beauty concerns simply by downing the right foods. That's right—eating well not only does wonders for your waistline and bolsters your immune system but can also provide some very real get-gorg benefits, such as smoothing wrinkles, giving hair a glossy shine and strengthening flimsy nails.

Coffee
Grabbing some java every morning doesn't just jump-start your day—that cup of joe has bioactive compounds that may help protect your skin from melanoma (the fifth most common cancer in the U.S.), according to a recent report in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Researchers found that the more coffee people downed, the less likely they were to get the disease: Those drinking four cups daily had a 20 percent lower risk of developing malignant melanoma over a 10-year period than non-coffee drinkers.

Watermelon
The summertime fave is loaded with lycopene.
"This antioxidant compound gives watermelon and tomatoes their red color—and helps skin stave off UV damage
Researchers believe that the melon contains as much as 40 percent more of the phytochemical than raw tomatoes; that's the equivalent of an SPF 3, so use it to bolster (not replace) your daily dose of sunscreen
Pomegranates
The seeds of this wonder fruit are bursting with antioxidants, like vitamin C, that prevent fine lines, wrinkles and dryness by neutralizing the free radicals that weather skin. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that higher vitamin C intake lessened the likelihood of dryness and wrinkles in middle-aged women. Also in the fruit's arsenal: anthocyanins (which help increase collagen production, giving skin a firmer look) and ellagic acid (a natural chemical that reduces inflammation caused by UV damage)
Eggs
Your fingernails (toenails, too) are made of protein, so a deficiency can turn those talons soft. Keep yours thick and mani-pedi-ready by cracking smart: "Eggs are a good source of biotin, a B complex vitamin that metabolizes amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein
Walnuts
Omega-3 fatty acids (found in the natural oils that keep your hair hydrated) and vitamin E (which helps repair damaged follicles) are two secrets behind strong, lustrous strands—and these nuts are full of both, Lipman said. All you need is 1/4 cup a day. What's more, walnuts are packed with copper, which will help keep your natural color rich: Studies show that being deficient in the mineral may be a factor in going prematurely gray.
Avocado
Like you need another reason to love them: These rich fruits are high in oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid that helps skin retain moisture in the outer layer to keep it soft, plump and supple
Cantaloupe
The sweet melon contains beta carotene, or vitamin A, which is believed to regulate the growth of skin cells on your scalp and sebum in the skin's outer layer, Zeichner said. This keeps pores from getting clogged and causing flakes.

Why secrets are good for love

For years, you felt burdened with thoughts, feelings and opinions that didn’t seem to make much sense to anyone else. You sometimes wondered if you were going mad. There were people you didn’t like, but everyone else seemed to think they were terrific and so you held your tongue. You got anxious and uncomfortable on social occasions when everyone else seemed happy and relaxed. There were things you would have quite liked to try in bed, but they felt shameful and you would not have dared to mention them even to your best friend. You learnt to keep secrets in order to be liked.
Then finally, you met a very special person. What made them so special was that, at long last, you no longer had to dissemble around them. You could admit to important truths. You could confess, and be rewarded for sharing, your deepest self. It was a favourite game in those early months. You pushed yourself to go as far as you could go. The deeper the secret, the better. No area of the self seemed beyond investigation, no secret too shocking or explicit. You could explain that you found a mutual acquaintance arrogant, narcissistic and mean. Or that you thought some supposed ‘masterpiece’ of a book very boring. You could explain that you liked pulling hair during sex or had always been excited by ropes. Love seemed to be born out of this new possibility for honesty. What had previously been taboo gave way to exhilarating intimacy.
The relief and excitement at unburdening ourselves of all the secrets that life in society demands is at the heart of the feeling of being in love. It is almost as if being in love is the ability to show someone who we really are. This sense of mutual conspiracy underlies the touch of pity that every new couple feels for the rest of humanity.
But this sharing of secrets sets up in our minds – and in our collective culture – a powerful and potentially problematic ideal: that if two people love one another, then they must always tell each other the truth about everything.
The idea of honesty is sublime. It presents a deeply moving vision of how two people can be together and it is a constant presence in the early months. But there is a problem: we keep wanting to make this same demand as the relationship goes on. And yet in order to be kind, and in order to sustain the relationship, it ultimately becomes necessary to keep a great many thoughts out of sight. We are perhaps too conscious of the bad reasons for hiding something; we haven’t paid enough attention to the noble reasons why, from time to time, true loyalty may lead one to say very much less than the whole truth. We are so impressed by honesty, we have forgotten the virtues of politeness, this word defined not as a cynical withholding of important information for the sake of harm, but as a dedication to not rubbing someone up against the true, hurtful aspects of one’s nature. It is ultimately no great sign of kindness to insist on showing someone one’s entire self at all times. Repression, a certain degree of restraint and a dedication to editing one’s pronouncements belongs to love as much as a capacity for explicit confession. The person who cannot tolerate secrets, who in the name of ‘being honest’, shares information so wounding it cannot be forgotten, is no friend of love. Just as no parent tells a child the whole truth, so we should accept the ongoing need to edit our full reality.
And if one suspects (and one should, rather regularly, if the relationship is a good one) that one’s partner might be lying too (about what they are thinking about, about how they judge one’s work, about where they were last night…), it is perhaps best not to take up arms and lay into them like a sharp relentless inquisitor, however intensely one yearns to do just that. It may be kinder, wiser and perhaps more in the true spirit of love, to pretend one simply didn’t notice

Friedrich Nietzsche departed from philosophical wisdom as it had been defined hitherto by insisting that the truth is not always the most important thing for us to be concerned with. What matters is what we are able to do with what we know: one can use the truth to damage someone, or one can use it to help. This should determine the degree of our dedication to it. We don’t have to tell each other the truth all the time unless it genuinely helps us to accomplish our goals. In Nietzsche’s words, often it really does not: ‘We need art’ (that is, strategic deceptions) ‘lest we die of the truth.’

MICROSOFT OUTS FREE 90-DAY TRIAL FOR WINDOWS 10

Yesterday was the big launch day for Windows 10, the latest version of Microsoft's ubiquitous operating system. As promised, updates to the new OS are free if you're coming from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
But what if you are on an older iteration, or if you run Linux? Or if you aren't sure if Windows 10 is for you?
Well, in that case, you can grab a free 90-day trial of the new OS. That's right, Microsoft is also offering people three months of use of Windows 10 for free. There are caveats here, though.
First off, it's the Enterprise edition that you can test drive. This means most of the apps that come with Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro are nowhere to be found. Let's name a few of the ones you'll be missing: Mail, People, Calendar, Photos, and even Cortana.
Oh, and you won't even get the Windows app store, so you'll have to get your software the old-fashioned way, by downloading installer files from third parties and then running them.
All of this is happening because, as its name implies, Windows 10 Enterprise edition isn't really meant for consumers to use. It's geared at Microsoft's corporate customers - but that doesn't mean you can't try it out yourself. Just be aware of the aforementioned limitations.

Shell Is Cutting Spending; To Sack 6,500 Workers

What happened to all the billions of Dollars they've made from oil fields in Nigeria for several years?
Shell petroleum development company, SPDC, says it will axe 6,500 workers this year and begin a process of cutting spending's, to deal with an extended period of lower oil prices in the global market.

Shell wants to sack 6,500 staff and direct contract workers from a total of nearly 100,000 employees.

“We have to be resilient in a world where oil prices remain low for some time, whilst keeping an eye on recovery,” said Ben van Beurden, Shell's Chief Executive Officer.

Besides, the company announced on Thursday in London the sale of a 33 percent stake in the Showa Shell refinery in Japan to Idemitsu, for about $1.4 billion.

The Anglo-Dutch company also said it was planning more asset disposals, bringing total asset sales between 2014 and 2018 to $50 billion.

Lower oil prices have contributed to a 37 percent drop in the oil and gas group’s second-quarter profits. And the group said it would reduce 2015 capital investment for the second time this year to $30 billion by 20 percent from a year ago.

Big oil companies have cut 2015 spending by 10 to 15 percent from 2014, to cope with fall in oil prices over the past year to below $55 a barrel from over a $100.

Shell said its operating costs were expected to fall by $4 billion, or around 10 percent, in 2015 as part of a broad efficiency drive to boost its balance sheet.

Youth Corper Ends up in Jail For Helping Somebody at The ATM: Must Read

For all those who readily help others to their own detriment, kindly follow my succeeding tweets.

My Sister just greeted me with a very sad news of how a young corp member got into trouble while trying to help

The newly posted corp member had gone to an Access bank ATM to withdraw N3000 from his
    account

Shortly after he returned to the office, he received a call from Diamond Bank requesting his presence @ the bank

Moments later to the utter amazement of everyone, dude returned in fetters accompanied by policemen & Bank staff

. A heavy allegation of theft was slammed on him. He was being accused of stealing a huge Toyota car and other things

Bank Staff came with a video evidence of the corp member withdrawing at the ATM with a card from the stolen car.

Dude was crying profusely & tried in futility to exonerate himself by giving a detailed explanation of what had happened

He went to a nearby Access bank to make withdrawal when a fellow approached him feigning ignorance on the workings of the ATM

He agreed to help & collected the ATM card. The fellow frantically opened a diary from which he read out different pin numbers

According to the corps member, he withdrew over a 100,000 just as the guy urged him to be fast

Unknown to him as he would later find out, the fellow and his gang had stolen a car from which he got the ATM card

The woman who was on her to block the ATM got a debit alert and hastened up to the bank -Access bank.

Access bank then connected Diamond bank, his personal Bank and he was called

Pleas for absolution from office staff and concerned people fell on deaf ears as the woman in question kept spitting threats.

Currently the corp member has been whisked away by police operatives and is currently at their mercy.

I call on the @NYSC to wade into this matter and ensure that an innocent man is not made to suffer.

Stop helping strangers with their withdrawals at the ATM!

Mother of Three Leads Notorious Armed Robbery Gang. Strips Female Police Officer Naked

Twenty-six-year-old Victoria Momidu, is a lady, one could described as a shy person at first glance. But as she stood along with her partner in crime behind the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Command, Ikeja, one could best imagine how calm but deadly she could be while operating alongside her robbery gang.

“I was hustling before I met Okokawon, who is my boyfriend. He told me to join his gang,” Victoria said.
When she was asked to explain what she meant by hustling, she replied in one word “prostitution.”

Daily Trust reports that Victoria and one other member of her gang were arrested recently by the men of Lagos State SARS, who had been on their trail after receiving a tip-off about the gang’s plan.

She and her gang had robbed some passengers along the Mile 2- Badagry Expressway. They operate from private cab, a police source alleged.
It all began some months ago, Victoria narrated. She said another member of the gang, Okolawon, (also in SARS custody) had approached her on the need for her to join the gang.

Victoria Momidu said she was once a prostitute but had to stop prostituting six months ago because she was not making enough money from the aged long profession.

“I ran away from my husband’s house in February, abandoning my three children in the process. I came to Lagos to hustle soon after I left my husband and children in Benin. It was a lady I met inside a commercial bus at Mile 2 Motor Park that introduced me to prostitution. She took me to where she was leaving in a hotel at Seme. I later joined other ladies in the act.

“I was making between N2000 and N3,000 per night anytime I have a customer, who will take me home for the night. This was what I was doing, until I met Okokawon. He came to the hotel where I was staying along with some friends to drink. He later asked me if I will spend the night with him,” she said.

The suspect further alleged that Okolawon came back three weeks later to take her out again, saying that they actually spent the whole day together.

She explained that it was at their third outing that Okolawon started picking passengers with his car, a thing which he had not done in her presence before.

“He picked up four passengers, who were going to Badagri, from Iyana Oba bus stop on that day. That was around 9p.m. Somewhere around Okoafon, he stopped, pretending as if the car had suddenly developed fault. It was a lonely stretch of road. Suddenly, another car stopped and the occupants of the car jumped out and I noticed that they were armed with dangerous weapons. They collected all cash and valuables that were in possession of the passengers,” she said.

Vick, as she is known by members of the gang, alleged that at first she was afraid, but that she later discovered that they were Okokawon’s armed robbery gang and that it was a planned attack.

“I was not given anything the first day out with the gang since it was my first experience. I discovered that I was only used to deceive passengers to board the car. The second time out I was given N10,000 after the operation. Outside cash, Okolawon goes with all phones collected from victims,” she said.

She further confessed that she eventually joined the gang after she discovered that she will make more money from the operation than prostituting.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Kayode Aderanti, who confirmed the report, said that the suspect along with four others, were involved in series of armed robbery operations along the Mile 2 -Badagry Expressway.

The Lagos State police boss said that before their arrest, the suspects, who operate in two cars, a Mazda and a Honda Haller, had earlier robbed some traders and that one of the victims, who took down the vehicles’ numbers, had reported the attack at Ojo Police Station.

“The case was handed over to a female police inspector. While she was investigating the matter, she too fell victim to the gang. She was stripped Unclad before her cash and valuable was taken away by the gang led by Okolawon. It is a clear case of catch in the air,” he added.
He stated further that unfortunately for the gang, they were sighted by the female Police Inspector around Alaba Rago bus stop area on the Mile 2 -Badagry expressway.

‘She raised alarm that led to the arrest of one Isiaka Ahmed, 33. Other members of the gang fled, abandoning their operational vehicle. The case was transferred to SARS. It was through investigation that led police to a hotel at Seme, where Victoria Momud was arrested,” he added.
He explained that effort was ongoing to arrest the other members of the gang

Angel Di Maria Declared Missing by Manchester United (Missing Person Photo)

Manchester United Manager, Louis van Gaal, has admitted that Angel Di Maria is missing and that he does not know the whereabouts of record signing,

Angel Di Maria suffered a bad first season with Manchester United and as his transfer saga continues, some posters appealing for the whereabouts of the “missing” Manchester United player have been doing the rounds on social media.

The 27-year-old winger – who joined United last summer for a club record £59million – did not join up with the squad for their pre-season tour of America.

After a disappointing first season in the Premier League, Di Maria looks set to join Paris Saint Germain.

And with Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal claiming he has no idea where the Argentine ace is, some mock-up posters are doing the rounds in a bid to find him

SHOCKER !!! Priest Announces on Pulpit That he is Gay, Divorcing Wife And Marrying a Man (Photos)

An Episcopal congregation in Queens was in for a big surprise recently when their priest Rev. Juan Andres Quevedo-Bosch, 59, came on pulpit to give Sunday sermon and announced that he is gay. The shocked congregation was further informed that he is divorcing his wife and marrying a younger man.

Rev. Juan Andres Quevedo-Bosch, is the archdeacon of Queens and rector of the Church of the Redeemer in Astoria,

On a Facebook post this week, the Cuban-born prelate announced that he got married in a Los Angeles church.

“I’m in Miami Beach with my new husband. God is good,” he wrote in a caption of a picture on the beach.

According to the New York Post, many parishioners have severed ties to the church after Quevedo-Bosch came out. Many are opting to attend Mass at a satellite church a few blocks away.

“Most of the people aren’t coming anymore,” an elderly woman told the newspaper. “Because he’s homosexual, people have stopped coming.”

However, there are many people in the largely Hispanic congregation who are supporting their priest, especially after he publicly offered to resign, the woman added. A petition was circulated to urge him to stay.

Saturday services have been canceled and attendance continued to dwindle down, the Post reported.

While talking to the Post, Quevedo-Bosch would not answer questions about his former wife Adria or their divorce. He revealed very little about his new marriage to the unidentified man.

“I am aware that there have been concerns regarding my divorce and subsequent remarriage and have been in touch with my bishop and my congregation about them,” he said.
Bishop Larry Provenzano, head of the Long Island diocese, which includes Queens, told the Post that he has been in touch with Quevedo-Bosch “as is customary in personal matters that involve divorce and remarriage.” He said the priest has his full support.

“Priests who wish to enter into same-gender marriage are approved to do so in the Episcopal Church and in the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island,” Provenzano said.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Episcopal Church voted to allow same-sex marriage in the church.

In a Twitter post last week, Quevedo-Bosch said he would be keeping his personal and professional lives separate.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has retained the cut off marks of 180 and 150 respectively as cut off marks for this year

The Federal Government has overruled the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on its new admission policy that recently sparked off protests in the country.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. MacJohn Nwaobiala, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Tuesday after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari about the ministry’s activities and challenges at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Comments:
Sammy: This is a commendable development on the part of the government and the ministry. The annoying thing is that candidates were redistributed to private universities without considering the disparity between fees of public and private schools. I know of a young lady who made the University of Lagos her first choice but was directed to the Augustine University, Epe, Lagos State, where she is expected to pay over N700,000 as tuition and accommodation fees. How many parents can afford such? And before you know it, the National Universities Commission will tell you that the university is not accredited.
Akeju Olagbaju: This is a courageous decision. Of what use is the stakeholders’ meeting to fix the cut-off point if individual universities would later raise or reduce the cut-off mark? The argument is not tenable. I have seen candidates who struggled to attain JAMB’s cut-off mark just to graduate with a first class when they eventually got admission. I think the fatigue of long service is now affecting the registrar of JAMB. Once again, kudos to the Federal Government. Let those who attain the cut-off mark be given an opportunity in their universities of choice.
Emeka Akeju: With this type of quick response from the permanent secretary, do we still need a minister to replace him as head? After all, Buhari may be right, appointment of ministers can wait.
Egi Hamadu: Since JAMB has introduced the computer-based test, universities should stop the post-UTME. I think the CBT is credible enough to be accepted by all universities without another assessment. But for this isolated case, I think the JAMB registrar has done well during his tenure.
Autineokon: Is it not high time we disbanded JAMB? By now, we should allow universities to conduct independent admission examinations.

Moses, Mikel Shine In Chelsea Win

The Nigerian duo of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses put up commendable displays as Chelsea ended their U.S tour with a morale-boosting win over European champions Barcelona late Tuesday evening.
In what was a battle of champions; the Blues for the EPL and the Catalan giants for La Liga , both teams had played out a 2-2 draw in regulation time before Jose Mourinho’s men claimed a 4-2 victory in the ensuing penalty kicks.
Eden Hazard gave Chelsea the lead with just 10 minutes into the game with a fine solo effort which, perhaps, justifies Mourinho’s lavish praise on the Belgian in the run-up to the thrilling match, before goals from Luis Suarez and Sandro turned the match on its head and Barcelona were in front.
However, poor goal-keeping from Jordi Masip allowed Gary Cahill to bravely equalise late on for the Blues, before Thibaut Courtois’ save allowed Loic Remy to score the winning penalty in the shoot-out.
Moses who scored in the last game against PSG was among the penalty takers and the Nigerian calmly buried his kick after Falcao had set the ball rolling with his masterpiece spot-kick.

Buhari’s Appointments Has Shown his Hatred for Igbo – Ohaneze

The pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, said yesterday that it was not surprised at the way the appointments of President Muhammadu Buhari were going, insisting that it had shown the president’s deep rooted hatred for the Igbo nation.

Anambra State president of Ohaneze, Dr. Chris Eluemuno, in an interview at the state –owned Anambra Broadcasting Service Television in Awka, said the situation would still have been the same even if the entire Igbo voted for him. He said:
“I said it during the campaigns that General Buhari does not like Igbo people and it is happening now with all the appointments he has so far made since he came into office on May 29, 2015.
He appointed five service chiefs and there is no Igbo man, even though Igbo have qualified people to occupy the positions. His party has completed the selection of principal officers in the national assembly and despite the fact that the speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara made case to apply the federal character in allocating the offices, the president jettisoned it through his intervention and left Igbo APC lawmakers out.
He also exhibited his vindictiveness during his recent visit to the United States of America, USA, when he travelled with only governors from his party, leaving out governors from the opposition parties.
He was also quoted as saying that he would favour those who voted for him and our position is that there is no way the president should expect all Nigerians to vote for him in the last presidential election. That statement contradicted Buhari’s earlier stand that he belonged to everybody and belonged to nobody.”
Eluemuno, who is also the chairman of chairmen of Ohaneze in the seven Igbo speaking states, argued that Buhari had no reason to discriminate against the Igbo because Igbonation played prominent roles in the development of Nigeria and should therefore not be discriminated against in the scheme of things.

According to him, apart from the Secretary to the Government of Federation, SGF, the remaining appointments are ministers and board members, which constitutionally must go to all the 36 states of the federation, adding that appointing an Igbo minister would not therefore be a favour to them.

On the president’s threat to probe only the Jonathan administration, Eluemuno said it would amount to witch hunt if he limited it to the immediate past administration, advising that the probe should start from the PDP civilian administration that began 16 years ago with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who governed for eight years.

Dbanj Blasts Nigerians Who Laugh at Him For Selling Garri

Bangalee Aka Dbanj or the Kokomaster is not smiling with his garri business. The singer made his seriousness about promoting the brand known in an emotional piece on Instagram.

He slammed Nigerians for placing much attention of imported products and failed to support their own insisting many of the products we embrace and cherish in the country are foreign products.

He then hinted that, he will kick off a Kokogarri competition where the winner will have a chance to represent the brand and get a start up capital for the Koko garri business.

Read his emotional outburst after the cut:

He wrote

Guys, KokoGarri is available on Konga & in Ebeano Stores!

Who owns Ciroc vodka? Who owns Beats headphones? Who own RocknRepublic? The list goes on. What we do in Nigeria is to laugh at people’s hustle. And when it starts paying, creating jobs and moving the person to the next level, we are quick to ask why is the person living so large? Does he know how many people are hustling and going to bed hungry? But we don’t consider the person’s hustle in the beginning worthy of support. I am a strong Supporter of Nigerian Brands. How many politicians bought this Koko Garri to give their supporters? But they gave imported rice abi? When Otunba Ghadaffi started his mobile toilets, people called him “Agbe po!!!” It wasn’t for long, others joined DMT to do what he was laughed at. I know that a few think what’s DBanj thinking to invest in Garri. Newsflash!!!! I bet you all that is a $30b market. KOKOGARRI to be promoted & distributed in hotels and restaurants. Wherever beans and moi-moi is served, there should be packs of Koko Garri as options to pap, dodo and yam. Trust me, you will see how it will grow. I think there should be a Garri soaking competition sef. The hamburger competitions we see on television don’t even have as much entertainment value…
Round 1, Koko Garri and groundnuts,
Round 2, Koko Garri and coconut,

Port Harcourt, Warri refineries commence petroleum production – NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC says the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have commenced petroleum production after some in-house engineers conducted a nine-month rehabilitation on both facilities.

The oil corporation announced this in a statement released by its General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Mr Ohi Alegbe yesterday. The statement in part reads

“What this means is that both plants have resumed production of petroleum products. For now, about 60 per cent of its 210,000 barrels per day production capacity is being achieved, but it is projected that it will hit its installed 125,000 barrels per day capacity soon,”

The statement added that the Port Harcourt refinery would eventually hit five million litres of petrol per day, while Warri would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol.

Imo Man Dies After Drinking 20 Sachets of Gin in N500 Bet

A middle-aged man from Imo State reportedly died after consuming 20 sachets of gin in a N500 bet he had with a woman.

The deceased named Chucks, a barber, was happily married with a child, and lived in Aba, Abia State, Vanguard reports.

According to an eyewitness account:

The deceased had on the fateful day, gone to a nearby local shop situated within the area to take a sachet of his usual brand of gin and boosted to the shop owner that he could finish 20 sachets of the drink.

This was said to have led to an argument between the deceased and the shop owner and other customers in the shop that morning.

The argument, it was learned, reached a stage where the deceased deposited N500 and the shop owner also placed her own N500 in a bet.

The deceased was then provided with the sachet drinks for consumption.

It was gathered that he successfully consumed the 20 sachets of dry gin and went away with the bet money.

The deceased was said to have left his barbing salon earlier that day to his house when he started feeling some pains in his stomach and asked his wife to put on their sitting room ceiling fan and sat  directly beneath it.

When his condition got worse, his wife asked him what the problem was.

The deceased told his wife he was okay, but just needed rest.

He subsequently died.

Windows 10 is here, free as promised

The wait is finally over and as promised today is the day Windows 10 finally rolls out to eligible PC's. Chances are that like most Windows users you are in line to receive the next big OS version which is free of charge!

If you are on a Windows 7 or 8.1 PC just look in the bottom right corner and it will most likely it will all come back to you. Yes, that little update notification logo has been sitting there for quite some time now but today the rollout finally started. And if you opt to update in the next year or so, then Windows 10 is absolutely free.

The upgrade is already available in 190 countries, but it's a staged rollout so it might not get automatically downloaded to your machine yet. However, there is a little trick you could do to force the update.

You didn't hear it from us, but you might want to:

1. Run Windows Update, and make sure you are set to receive updates automatically.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete everything inside (Hey, nobody said it wouldn't take some courage)

3. Run a command prompt in administrator mode and type wuauclt.exe /updatenow

We tried this to successfully speed things up, but proceed at your own risk. And if you're not really feeling that adventurous, you could simply patiently wait your turn as well. Microsoft also provides an easy tool for creating an install DVD or USB, available here. And if you still need some incentive to update, then let us briefly reiterate some of the improvement Microsoft has packed into Windows 10.

A promise has been made for an unparalleled level of security and backward compatibility with both software and hardware and seeing how Window 10 is lighter on resources, it should run even better than your current OS. The new Windows experience is optimized for any screen and device. Gestures and touch controls have been improved and the interface should look nicely scale to almost any screen, resolution and form factor.

Among the biggest novelties in Windows 10 are Microsoft's new Edge browser, multiple desktop environments, a unified notification center and tight integration of Skype, Microsoft Office and Cortana into the system. The quirky assistant now has a new home on the PC and promises to become a close and personal buddy of yours across all of your devices. Bear in mind, however, that Cortana won't be initially available in all regions, so you might have to wait a bit to get acquainted.

LG's profit for Q2 2015 down 60%, TVs and smartphones to blame

LG's second quarter financial results are out and the numbers look grim. The company reports its lowest quarterly operating profit since Q4 2013 - KRW244 billion ($211 million) is down 60% from KRW610 billion the previous year. Compare that to initial analyst estimates, which pointed to a KRW395 billion figure.

Despite remaining the world number two TV manufacturer, LG is struggling in that department, where it registers a KRW 82.7 billion ($71.5 million) loss. A year before, the division was twice that in profit, though the downward trend was already rather obvious with a $5.4 million loss last quarter.

Meanwhile, LG's mobile communications division is barely in the black, reporting a KRW 0.2 billion profit - some $173,000, not enough for a mid-level exec's yearly salary.

The future is also not looking good, analysts report, as the smartphone market is getting increasingly crowded and LG is failing to stand out. Shrinking global TV sales aren't helping either, with the issue worsened by narrow profit margins due to weak currencies in emerging markets.

Nintendo sells 10 million Wii Us, still not making much money

Nintendo has posted yet another slim profit as it moves beyond the financial difficulties of the past few years. The slow launch of the Wii Uand the stagnation of its handheld sales caused Nintendo to fall dramatically from grace after the runaway success of the Wii. After recording its first annual profit since 2011 earlier this year, though, it's proved it can stay in the black in spite of the Wii U's meagre popularity, making just over $9million in the latest quarter.

Nintendo only managed to sell 470,000 flagship consoles over the past three months, down slightly from last year's 510,000. That at least pushes the Wii U's total sales above the 10 million barrier. For context, it took over 30 months for Nintendo to sell what Sony managed in less than a year with PS4. Software sales were still remarkably strong 4.55 million over the quarter proving that, while the Wii U may not be a big seller, its gamers definitely love Nintendo games. Splatoon sold 1.62 million copies, and Wii U owners now own (on average) six games for their console.

While the Wii U still languishes in third place, Nintendo had a very strong quarter for 3DS, with sales of 1.1 million. That's up 23 percent from last year, likely due to the availability of the new 3DS, and software remained fairly steady at a shade under 8 million. It's worth noting that the first quarter is historically a tough one for Nintendo, and these figures actually represent the company's strongest showing in a few years. But with no big releases on the horizon for either system, the company is unlikely to see a huge leap in sales next quarter. That's curious, given it's predicting around a $400 million profit for the year, and has so far managed less than 3 percent of that figure. It's hoping that the release of Super Mario Maker,Star Fox, and Mario Tennis will pick things up for the holiday season, before it's ready to show us something totally new in 2016.

3 year old Burnt to Death after Women Cooking Mistakenly Poured Hot Oil on his Body

A three-year-old boy, Basit Adewole, was burnt to death in the Iwaya, Yaba area of Lagos after two women, who were cooking, mistakenly poured hot oil on his body.

The women, and their host, identified only as Yemisi, had been arrested by the Sabo Police Division, where the matter was reported.

PUNCH Metro learnt that on the afternoon of Saturday, the women came to Audu Baale Street, Iwaya, to see Yemisi, who was celebrating her birthday.

It was gathered that the women, who did not meet Yemisi at home, started cooking in the room. Adewole and other toddlers in the house were said to be playing in the corridor.

It was learnt that the pot, however, caught fire, and the women quickly threw out the oil and the pot. The hot oil, however, spilled on the boy, and he was set ablaze.

Relatives and neighbours were said to have rushed to the scene, and taken the boy to a hospital. He reportedly died the following day.

It was learnt that the police thereafter came to arrest Yemisi and her two friends, while a man, Lateef, who owned the apartment, was said to have gone into hiding.

When PUNCH Metro visited the apartment, Adewole’s relative, who identified himself simply as Kehinde, said the boy’s life could have been saved if the women did not close the door of their room as if nothing happened.

He added that the government hospital, where Adewole was rushed to, did not attend to him because workers were on strike, noting that the boy later died in a private hospital in the area.

He said:
“The women do not stay in this house. They are friends to Yemisi, whose boyfriend, Lateef, lives here. The boyfriend, Lateef, has not showed up since the incident occurred. On that afternoon, Yemisi brought the women to celebrate her birthday with her. She gave them the key to Lateef’s apartment.
While the two were cooking in the room, the pot caught fire and they threw it out without minding the children in the corridor. Basit was burnt in the process. The women went inside and shut their door.
If they had rushed out with water immediately, the harm would have been minimal, and the boy might have survived. When we took the boy to a government hospital, they rejected him because they were on strike. We then brought him to a private hospital in Yaba, where he later died.”
A resident, identified only as Mama Bolu, said it was a bottle of gum in Lateef’s room ─ used for printing works ─ which caught fire. She added that the women were careless in putting out the fire.

She said:
“The boy’s mother is sad at the moment. The women did not handle the fire in a matured manner, and it has landed them in trouble. The boy was playing with other little children in the corridor. His father just went outside briefly to put on their generator.
The women were frying something. They mistakenly flung the substance on the boy. The boy’s body was engulfed in fire immediately.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that Adewole, who was just promoted to Nursery 1 in school, was the only child of his parents. He was buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, confirmed the incident. She added that the police were still searching for the runaway boyfriend, while the two women were in custody.

She said, “The women have been arrested and detained.

“Efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing boyfriend. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing into the matter.”
